As I promised yesterday, I’ve uploaded a new song tonight. The song is called “Tuition Madness“, and it’s basically about how US society expects you to pile up thousands of dollars in debt on an education so you can go out and work yourself into even more debt later in life. You can read about it here, or if you don’t want to do that, you can simply download the song here.
A note to those of you who check the page for The Six Day Exile often: The order of the tracks there is not chronologically when they appeared on the site, but rather the approximate tracklisting, which will be filled in and changed around as I upload more songs. Hence why “Tuition Madness” is #3 in the table at the bottom of the page.

I wonder– might this song work better as a spoken word piece? You alternate between talking and singing and the music in the background sounds kind of like the jazz chords you hear under a spoken performance. What do you think? Just a thought…

Jazz chords? I dunno, Are E(minor), G(major) and A(minor) jazz chords? It’s something to think about, I guess. I may try it as something of an..I dunno, bonus track? Additional material?
Incidentally, how did the upper end (And I assure you, that’s the very upper end of it) of my voice sound?
I think it’s the spacing of the chords and the pace of the song that I think has sort of a spoken word feel. Your voice sounds fine, the only thing that’s a bit weird is I still can’t tell if it’s supposed to be more spoken than sung (thats how it sounds to me). Either way it’s fine but the transition for singing a few notes then speaking again has kind of a “Shatner-esque” effect.
Maybe it’s just me– anyone else care to chime in?

Well, from what I remember, reviews of Shatner’s last album were generally positive (yes, really), so maybe that’s not a bad thing…
(Way for something you totally didn’t expect to undermine completely the point I suspect you were trying to make, huh?)
But I do agree–I know others of you are out there–I have statistic, you know–and I’d love some more comments, be they good, bad, or indifferent.
heh, well shatner esque in that it’s sing-speaking (does that make sense). its more of an observation than a criticism.
